Amy Winehouse Cancels Her Tour

TROUBLED Amy Winehouse last night sensationally axed the rest of her UK Tour claiming she couldn’t carry on without her jailbird husband.

The broken star issued a statement yesterday afternoon after crisis talks with her management and tour bosses in London.

The meeting ended with Amy “collapsing in floods of tears” demanding her remaining tour dates were scrapped because she couldn’t cope without husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

In a statement Amy, 24, said: “I can’t give it my all onstage without my Blake. I’m so sorry but I don’t want to do the shows half-heartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him it’s just not the same.”

A source inside the crisis talks told The Sun: “Amy was in Brighton this morning preparing at the Hilton for her gig in Bournemouth.

“She suddenly left for London for a meeting yesterday afternoon and decided she couldn’t go on.

“She was in a terrible state in London. She looked awful and had been in floods of tears. She was fragile and weak like an old woman. It was depressing to watch. When the tour was cancelled it was like a weight lifted off her shoulders immediately.”

The announcement has been on the cards for weeks after a series of alarmingly poor performances in Europe and on home soil.

Fans have been walking out of concerts half way through in disgust. She has been stumbling across stage slurring her words as her drug problems spiral out of control.

At the opening night of the UK Tour she swore at the crowd calling them “mugs” for booing her when she mentioned Blake’s name.

Since Blake, 25, was locked up awaiting trial for allegedly perverting the course of justice - her life has completely fallen apart.

She scraped through her London gigs because she is close to home. But her problems have been at their worst when she goes on the road.

Cancelling her UK Tour will infuriate her patient fans. She still had eight dates remaining bringing the tour to a close at Brixton Academy in London on December 17.

Last night a spokesman for the singer said: “Amy Winehouse has cancelled all remaining live and promotional appearances for the remainder of the year on the instruction of her doctor.

“The rigours involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll.

“In the interests of her health and well-being, Amy has been ordered to take complete rest and deal with her health issues.

“Refunds for the remaining dates will be issued from the point of purchase.”

A spokesman for gig promoters LiveNation explained: “Hire of the venues alone will be insured to a certain degree.

“The venues she is cancelling are expensive to hire but the costs should be covered.

“The rail pain is for the fans who have to wait for refunds and have the hassle of losing travel costs. It’s also highly unlikely they will get booking fees back.

“Anyone who has travelled far booking hotels will be hit the hardest. It will definitely discourage fans from buying tickets for shows in the future.”

Jailbird Blake has found religion in Pentonville. Blake was allowed out of hospital isolation to visit the prison chapel.

He has been in a separate cell away from his co-accused since he was locked up last month.

Despite her troubles over the last six months Amy’s record sales haven’t suffered. Her most recent album Back to Black even climbed the charts when she hit the headlines for her rushed marriage and drug woes.
